Dear Solitaire Player,
Gargantua is a two deck variation of Double Klondike.
My version of Gargantua in Pretty Good Solitaire allows you to play offline, full screen, with complete undo and my unique right click quick move. It's the best way to play solitaire!
As usual, there are eight foundation piles. They will be built up in suit from Ace to King. When all of the cards in both decks are moved to the foundations, the game is won.
Gargantua has nine tableau piles. At the start of the game, one card is dealt to the first pile, two cards to the second pile, three cards to the third pile, and so on up to nine cards in the ninth pile. Only the top card of each pile is face up, as in Klondike. The tableau is built down in alternate color, also as in Klondike. Groups of cards may be moved as a unit if they are in sequence down in alternate color. Spaces can only be filled with Kings or a group of cards headed by a King.
The remainder of the cards form a stock. The stock is turned over one card at a time to a waste pile. The top card of the waste pile is available for play on the foundations and tableau. There is one redeal.
Gargantua is very similar to Double Klondike. It is Double Klondike with a one card deal and only one redeal. The limits on redeals makes Gargantua somewhat harder to win than Double Klondike. Other similar games are Harp, Steps, and Batsford.
