How to Download in Internet Explorer
How to Download a File in Internet Explorer
To download a file using Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
- Click on a download link on the download page. A download link for Pretty Good Solitaire may look like this:
- If you have a recent version of Windows XP, you will probably get an Information Bar window like this:
This is alerting you to the fact that Internet Explorer may be blocking your downloads. Just click on OK. If you don't get this window, ignore this step.
- Look at the top of the page, there may be a yellowish bar across the screen. It says "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options..."

Click on "Click here for Options...". If you do not see this yellow bar, ignore this step.
- A popup menu will appear.

Click on "Download File...". Again, if you did not get the yellow bar, ignore this step.
- Next you may get a Security Warning window like this:

Click on the Save button.
- Now the file will begin downloading. At last! The length of time the download will take will depend on the size of the file and the speed of your internet connection.

While the download is in progress, make sure that the "Close this dialog box when download completes" box is not checked.
- When the download is complete, the window should look something like this:

Now click on the Run button.
- Arrgh! Yet another Security Warning.

Click on the Run button again. These security warnings make sure that you don't accidently run spyware or other bad stuff.
- The setup file should now run.

Click on Next and the setup installation program will install the game on your computer. Once it is complete you can play by clicking on the new game icon on the desktop.
It is a very good idea to keep the file you downloaded. Don't delete it! You never know when you may need to reinstall, or when you may get a new computer. You'll need the downloaded file to install again.
